Entergy - Two plants on group’s mercury list
Two Entergy Arkansas coal-fired power plants remain among the 50 worst mercury polluters in the country, according to a report released Wednesday by a nonprofit environmental organization.
Entergy’s White Bluff plant near Redfield released 584 pounds of mercury in 2008, an increase of 13 percent from 2007, according to the Environmental Integrity Project. Entergy Arkansas’ Independence coal plant near Newark reduced mercury emissions by 2 percent in 2008, according to the most recent information available from federal sources.
