At my plant, the use of cell phones and other wireless devices is not allowed in the plant, due to concerns about Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) with sensitive electronics.  I have heard that some other stations use cell phones instead of radios for their Operators, and/or wireless devices for connecting to the intranet in-plant.  What is your plant's policy regarding wireless devices?  If you use them, what applications do you have in place for them?
